RUA ISALTINA - The Story…
Rua Isaltina – A Canada/Brasil Adventure, is my third full-length album, written and recorded between my homes in Canada and Brazil. These songs carry the spirit of two cultures, blending folk, pop, and world influences into a musical journey of love, place, and memory. Each track reflects a moment of life lived, and I’m thrilled to finally share this collection with you.
We've been busy in the studio preparing the 11 new tracks that go to make up the album. It's been a labour of love and of course, taken more time than I had originally planned but hey…this is showbiz.
Roberto, my amazing studio engineer at Beto Studios, Florianopolis, Brasil, never ceases to amaze me for taking my sometimes fledgling ideas and creating small masterpieces out of them.
I am blessed to be able to collaborate with my wife, Lyse Cote as lyricist, on two of the album tracks. She has also shared her talents as a fine studio back-up singer. Also we have had Campa as an amazing solo guitarist and Yochi as a back-up singer.
Songs have been created, recorded, mixed and mastered between two studios, Beto Studio in Brasil, and my own Bare Bones studios in Ottawa, Canada.
It has been my life's dream to write about my experience of life at 71, put them into a short ‘vehicle’ we call a song, so I can share the awe I feel to really understand how the universe works, and my rightful place in it.
As an artform, we can choose to read our own understanding into any lyric and melody, so I leave you this freedom of choice. I would love to receive feedback from you all, both supportive and sometimes even your raw reactions…I'm OK with this!
This is my 3rd full album and, like everyone else on the planet,…I'm still learning!!!
The global album release onto all online music platforms on September 19th, was a big success.
Thank You, or Obrigado, as we say in Brasil, for your heartfelt support!
